Gold

Through talking with Anand at Generation press I have gained some knowledge of how to make things look gold.

The 4 best ways of getting Gold are.

Metallic gold foil
Using a stock such as Chromoloux,
which is matt on one side and high gloss on the other.
-
Metallic gold litho ink
-
Screen printing metallic inks

The Supremes

This shows that using a colour throughout a design works. This is a wicked album cover from 'The Supremes', I like how they have cropped the photo and boxed the type.

These album cover use black and white as a approach for the design. This is a good technique which I may use for my brief.

Motown design

All these labum cover designs use colours of gold/ orange to create a warm/classy/nostalgic feel. I think incorporating these colour will help my design.

Logo Inspiration

I think the arch of the text works well, could use this in my logo development.
Again the arch but also the lines either side on the date gives it a symmetrical quality
I think the use of sans serif looks good in this invitation.

CD packaging

Some examples of motown cd packaging which I may take influence from.I like the 'gold' colour used here and the halftone image. They both work well with the white type and stars.

Typography Soul

Thought I would look into 'motown' design to inform and influence my designs. The typography that is used with motown related design looks like its mostly sans serif. Back drop, stars are also used a lot.

Tamla Motown logo is serif but it works pretty well.
